Jon Newbery - Chief Executive Officer & Director

Jon Newbery has more than 20 years of management, finance, operational, and turnaround experience. He qualified as an accountant with Arthur Andersen in London, before moving to Warsaw, Poland in 1991 to assist in establishing the consultancy’s Polish practice. He then moved on to run a Toronto listed investment fund focusing on investment opportunities in Poland. In 2000 Jon moved to Australia, where he established his own consulting business and successfully ran a number of early stage Australian technology businesses as well as advising on fund raising, restructuring and exit opportunities.

Jon joined the Powerlan group in 2006 and was instrumental in the development of a new strategy and its restructuring. He took over as the CEO of Clarity in 2009.

Jon holds a BSc in Physics from the University of Nottingham (England) and is a Member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of England and Wales.

Tony Garcia – Chief Operating Officer & Executive Director

Tony Garcia is responsible for Clarity’s Sales, Product, and Services business units. Tony is an IT industry veteran, specializing in demonstrating to the world’s leading operators the tangible value of using software solutions to improve business process efficiency and meeting the challenges of the fast changing Telecoms industry.

Tony joined Clarity in 2010 as Vice President, Global Sales and Alliances.  He became COO and Executive Director in 2012.

Prior to joining Clarity, Tony held posts at both operators and ISVs, including HP/EDS, Telcordia and at Easynet/BSkyB.

Tony holds a BSc (Hons), is an accredited TOGAF Enterprise Architect and is a member of the IOD, the IEEE and the BCS.

Tony Kalcina - Founder & Industry Evangelist

Tony Kalcina is Founder & Industry Evangelist of Clarity, and he conceived the Unified Operational Management vision to maximize the value of network services and assets for operators.

A fervent evangelist for Unified OSS, Tony is acknowledged for his contribution to industry and in 2011 he was appointed as a TM Forum Ambassador, a network of highly experienced industry professionals focused on mentoring senior executives at TM Forum member companies. Tony is also Chair of the TM Forum Energy Smart Grid Community, where he drives the standardization challenges for the Energy transmission and distribution industry as they evolve to support renewables and Smart Grids.

Tony has 30 years’ experience in the global telecoms industry. His career includes Telstra (OTC), and then as General Manager of IT in a newly established Malaysian telecoms company before founding Clarity in 1994.

Andrew Wrigglesworth - Chief Financial Officer

Andrew Wrigglesworth has more than 15 years’ experience in senior finance and general management roles, working for global telecommunications organizations including Energis, Cable & Wireless, Vanco and Reliance Globalcom. During his tenures, Andrew has run the General Management of a joint venture between Cable & Wireless and France Telecom in the Pacific region and has managed global international finance, commercial and legal teams throughout Europe and Asia-Pacific.  Andrew joined Clarity in March 2010 and is responsible for managing Finance, Human Resources, IT, Legal & Administration.

Andrew has a degree in Politics & Economics from Loughborough University in the UK and is a member of the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants.

Judi Gill – Director of Market Analysis & Strategy

Judi Gill joined Clarity in 2009. As Director of Market Analysis and Strategy, she is responsible for the company’s go-to-market positioning and activities. Judi has worked in the telecommunications IT sector for over 20 years, and brings a focused set of IT, industry and marketing skills to Clarity.

Judi started her career at Accenture, and has since worked at both operators and software providers across the globe including BT, Optus, ADC, Bharti Airtel, MTN and Telcordia.

Judi holds a Bachelor of Commerce from the Australian National University and a Diploma of Business Administration from the Australian Graduate School of Management.

Duncan Stephens – Director of Product Management

Duncan Stephens comes to Clarity with nearly 20 years Telecommunications experience in Australasia and Europe, specialising in OSS and Network Management. His roles have ranged across Product Development and Management, Business Development and Systems Deployment and Integration.

Duncan joined Clarity in 2010 as Director of Product Management. Prior to Clarity he led the Regional Solutions Architecture team for Alcatel-Lucent and was responsible for multiple projects, including solutions for two of the region’s major transformation projects at Telstra and TNZ.

Duncan holds a Bachelor of Science and Bachelor of Engineering (Elec.) (Hons.) from the University of Sydney and a Corporate International Masters (INSEAD / AIM /LSE).

Jon Wells – Global Director of Pre-Sales

Jon Wells has worked in the OSS industry for 20 years, for both systems integrators and OSS product vendors. During his career, Jon has worked for Logica and Comptel and has been responsible for designing and delivering solutions into telecoms operators throughout Europe and Asia. Jon has participated in a number of major OSS transformation programmes including BT’s 21st Century Network programme and he has hands-on experience of many of the product solutions found in the OSS market.

Jon joined Clarity in 2007 and now leads the global pre-sales and consulting team. Jon is responsible for the initial technical and commercial coherence of solutions for Clarity’s key customers.

Jon has a Master’s Degree in Electrical and Electronic Engineering from Imperial College, London.

Mel Cantarella – Vice President, Global Alliances

Mel Cantarella is Clarity’s Vice President, Global Alliances. Since joining Clarity in 2000, Mel has been delivering OSS Transformation Programs for Clarity and its partners to Tier 1 Operators throughout Australia and Asia including AAPT, PLDT, Globe, Reliance, Sri Lanka Telecom, Mobitel and Telkom Indonesia.

Mel has 30 years’ experience in the global telecoms industry having previously held senior management roles in network engineering and network operations for Optus and Time Telekom Malaysia, and Program Management roles for IBM GSA and OSS/BSS ISVs.

Gerard Bissell – Director of Software Development

Gerard Bissell is Director of Software Development, responsible for the delivery of Clarity’s core OSS Suite. Gerard joined Clarity in 2006 and has more than 25 years’ experience in the information technology industry.

His career includes software development leadership roles at the Australian Broadcasting Corporation and BHP. For over 8 years he worked for Telstra in the Intelligent Network Software Development Group and in Telstra’s Research Laboratories as a Process Manager.

Gerard holds a Bachelor of Engineering from the University of Queensland and also holds a MBA from the Macquarie Graduate School of Management.

Julian Eatock – Director, EMEA Operations

Julian is responsible for operations within Europe, the Middle East and Africa, including OSS program deliveries, customer support services and Clarity’s R&D centre in the UK. Julian has 20 years of project delivery and business experience in the telecommunications sector, with leadership roles spanning program management, software & hardware development, research, professional services, customer support, product management and strategy.

Julian has previously worked at several telecommunications related companies including Aethos (now Acision), Logica, Xenicom, Andrew Corporation and Commscope.

Julian holds a Bachelor of Engineering degree and a PhD from University College Swansea and is a Prince2 Practitioner with a strong interest in PMO best practice.
